Many celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Bono, Angelique Kidjo, Beyonce, Annie Lenox, Youssou N’dour and Thandiswa Mazwai, had the opportunity to visit Robben Island, an island off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 of the 27 years he served behind bars before the fall of apartheid. With Mandela himself as tour guide, the visitors had the opportunity to discover this particular place, its people and the prison where many South Africans where kept during apartheid, the day before the '46664 - Give One Minute of Your Life to AIDS' concert.

Over 10 years after this historical experience, South African recording artist Thandiswa Mazwai, recalls an interesting anecdote that happened the day of the Robben Island tour between Beyoncé and Angélique Kidjo. The whole story involves queen Bey being bamboozled into carrying an African baby and having to eat while seating on the floor. The cultural shock seemed to have left Beyoncé a little embarrassed, but you should hear the whole story from Thandiswa’s own mouth who witnessed the incident. Check out the video below as she chats with the hosts of the Afternoon Express show.
